There is really a lot of things that you can do when you visit Mexico and probably too much to list in one blog post, but I thought I would try to write a list of just a few things you can do in this incredible country. So read on to find out more.
Go to the beach
There is nothing better than using Mexico beach rentals as a base to enjoy the incredible beaches there. The beaches along the Yucatan Peninsula are the most special to me because they are located on the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. My favourite is probably one that you already know and that is Cancun, but there are so many more in Mexico that have the stunning turquoise waters and white sands. Some of my favourites are Acapulco, Akumal and Playa Norte.
This is perhaps the best of all the archaeological sites in the Riviera Maya and strangely enough it is the only one that overlooks the ocean. This ancient Mayan fortress city sits on the edge of a cliff and there is even a walkway down to the beach. It really does look incredible and it was one of my favourite places to explore whilst I was there. This is a great place to take in some amazing history by exploring the ruins and then hit the beach directly after. Can you honestly think of anywhere as unique as that?
The huge capital of Mexico is one of my personal favourite places in all of Mexico. It is absolutely huge and has one of the largest metropolitan areas in the entire world. The historic centre is the place that you want to see with many amazing sites like the Alameda Park, National Palace and the Zocalo (or Plaza de la Constitucion). These are all located very close to one another and it is an absolute breeze to tick everything off your list. The cultural element of the colonial times is something that is very interesting to me and you can learn so much about this by visiting these places. One other thing I love about this wonderful city is that the ancient Aztec pyramids of Teotihuacan are located a mere 50 kilometres away from the city and this incredible complex of pyramids is something that you will remember seeing for the rest of your life.
Diving in Cozumel
This island is located off the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. One of the talking points of this is the Mesoamerican Reef that is over 20 kilometres long. This is the ideal place to go diving or snorkelling and to explore the wonders of the reef. You can see many types of tropical fish and also colourful coral here, which is simply a kaleidoscope of colours when you get to see it. On top of this the water is super clear and also very warm, which makes for an amazing place to spend your time.
